PWA 2011 - Day 5

Day 3 & 4 came to an end... We (together with my daughter) were about to go last Saturday (Day 3), but we were too tired from strolling inside SM Megamall's Toy Kingdom. Aside from strolling inside the Toy Kingdom, we also hopped from Building B to Building A then back again to Building B when my wife came. Anyways, there's another story on this that I'll make on my daughter's blog.

And now, the 5th day... Reporting for work as half-day today, I passed-by Glorietta before going to office. I'm really interested in getting the Terraclime 10 for my Pentax Optio H90 but for 2 consecutive days, the personnel from Vet Specialist Inc. always say that there's no discount on it for the price tag of Php 490.00. But lo and behold, when I asked them again this morning, they gave me a new price of Php 343.00. That's a 30% discount. Not bad! Not bad. Trully, "Patience is a virtue".

But I'm wondering... What if tomorrow, PWA 2011's, last day, they sell the same item with much more discount to let's say 40% or worse at half price? Hehehehe... :D

PWA 2011 - Day 2

Today is the 2nd day of this event. Yesterday, I was able to limit myself and was able to buy a single 8x12 picture frame only. And mind you, it's being sold at 50% discount! Hehehehe.

I might drop-by later (after office hours) and let's see what will happen...

ONLY THE ENGLISH COULD HAVE INVENTED THIS LANGUAGE

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
Then shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England.
We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes,
We find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square,
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing,
Grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend.
If you have a bunch of odds and ends
And get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English
should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
We ship by truck but send cargo by ship.
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
We park in a driveway and drive in a parkway.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language
In which your house can burn up as it burns down,
In which you fill in a form by filling it out, and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

And, in closing, if Father is Pop,  how come Mother's not Mop?

AND IF PEOPLE FROM POLAND ARE CALLED POLES THEN PEOPLE FROM HOLLAND SHOULD BE HOLES AND THE GERMANS, GERMS
I just saw this e-mail in one of a mailgroups I'm into while cleaning some unwanted e-mails .

For The Kids 2011

Thanks for this Andrew Pamorada!

The FTK is an annual mini-Olympics made especially for children with special needs like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Mentally Retarded (MR), Autism (AU), Low Vision/Blind (LV), Deaf, Cerebral Palsy (CP), and Down Syndrome (DS). Back in 1986, it began as a small project organized by the DLSU-Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) in partnership with the University’s Physical Education Department. They pulled off the first event with 50 participating kids from different centers and SPED schools.

I wasn't able to join last year activity. So I said to myself that I wouldn't miss it this time.

The pics;

More from here.

Hope to see some of these kids again next FTK 2012!

PhotoWorldAsia 2011

It's just only a week before this happens.

From PhotoWorldManila.com.
PhotoWorld Asia 2011 will be held from January 27 to February 1 at the Glorietta Activity Center for the trade show, and at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati for the educational convention.
Guest speakers include master portraitist Hanson Fong and Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom expert Julieanne Kost of the United States, Canadian travel photographer Stuart Dee and Triston Yeo of Singapore.
The distinguished Filipino speakers include Dr. Vicente Pido (The Doctor is INto Photography), Kris Fabi Carlos (“Amorsoloesque”), Emil Davocol and Paul Yan with a slideshow of inspirational images, Rudy Fontanilla (Portraiture), John Chua (Advocacy Photography) and Niccolo Cosme (Fashion Photography). Dieter Nicolai and Phillip Kim of Germany will also make an exposition about B+W Filters.

Some shops from "Hidalgo" are showcasing their  products for this almost week-long activity. So for those who want to buy from them, need not to travel to Quiapo  and worry some "scary moments" that they've read & circulating from some forum sites.

Other people were saying that this event is "money-magnet". You be the judge! ;-P

My PPG Collections

I think this blog entry can serve as a prelude...

At the end of 2010, I was able to have a total of 7. I was aiming to make it at least 10 but wasn't able to make the cut. Anyhow, 7 is still 7!!! Lucky number too, as they say. So I do hope that this 2011, would be much luckier year for me. :-)

Anyways, here's the pics;

and lastly, my 7th PPG

Thanks for viewing! Hopefully I can make some updates here in the coming days, weeks or months to come. ;-P

"Lone" Fisherman

click the image for a bigger size...
A fisherman or fisher is someone who captures fish and other animals from a body of water, or gathers shellfish. Worldwide, there are about 38 million commercial and subsistence fishermen and fish farmers. The term can also be applied to recreational fishermen and may be used to describe both men and women. Fishing has existed as a means of obtaining food since the Mesolithic period.
From Wikipedia.

A snap I took sometime last 2009, at Manila Bay near SM MOA (Mall of Asia), San Miguel by the Bay area, MOA Grounds, Pasay City Philippines.

Me & my family, together with my brother-in-law's family, went for some morning exercises in the area when I chanced-upon the said fisherman and immediately took this snap.

Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro Trip

(26 December 2010 to 01 January 2011)

This is actually my third trip to this town. First was with my mother-in-law (her husband is already staying for quite sometime in my brother-in-law's almost newly-constructed house), the second was with my wife and her 8-year old (then) nephew, Marc. I've been to Mindoro (Puerto Galera) once before, so traveling by RORO ship is not new to me. But rather a first-time RORO ride for my 10-year old daughter. She already experienced riding in an airplane sometime last 2008 so I know she wouldn't feel dizzy. On the way to Calapan Pier, she didn't. But on our way back to Batangas Pier, we encountered a "rocky" trip due to strong winds, so she felt a little dizziness.

Anyways, this trip is supposed to be a 3 to 4 days after-Christmas vacation for me and my family, but was extend till after New Year as suggested by my brother-in-law's wife. She told that we take the opportunity of spending New Year there together with our in-laws while her husband is here. True - that it's a rare opportunity for my brother-in-law to spend the holidays here due to the nature of his job.

This time I was able to go to Buktot Beach Resort (photos credited to original photographer and site owner) which the local folks calls the "Boracay" of Mindoro (I am already intrigued on how it looks like since I heard it the last time I was there). But I (we) was only able to take just a glimpse as we needed to go elsewhere more important. The following day, we opted to take a dip on the beach but too lazy to go back to Buktot as it's a little far on where their house is and thus we just settled to a nearby beach located in San Antonio. The beach area is near the once "Landing" (Paliparan) area where it now used to be a pasture for cows.

I somehow managed to take some photos and here's some;

I'll try to update and add more pictures on this blog as soon as I get some time to edit more images.
Now going back to Buktot Beach Resort, hopefully on my next visit, I can have the luxury and the opportunity of exploring its "white" sand. Till then...
